Mak Eskha-rey was a male Bothan who fought for the Alliance to Restore the Republic in their struggle against the Galactic Empire. He was an expert marksman with his illegally-modified longblaster. He was familiar with the art of Jeswandi - ancient Bothan meditative techniques - which helped him to find his inner focus in the heat of battle. At some point of time during the Galactic Civil War Mak was failed the mission to sabotage key Imperial facility on Ord Mantell and since then he always thought about it as his greatest failure. So when a chance to redeem himself in his own eyes has arrived, he didn't hesitate for a moment. The garrison of the same outpost has temporarily departed, leaving Mak the perfect opportunity to finish the task he left incomplete. So he grabbed his gear and left on mission along with a team of freelance freedom fighters. Upon arrival to the base and infiltrating the perimeter he led the team straight to the main hangar where they found a lone AT-ST which was parked inside. Mak climbed up to AT-ST and piloted it forward to engage the Imperials who at that time became aware that the base has been infiltrated. Despite the armor and supreme firepower soon AT-ST was badly damaged - not to a small extent because another AT-ST joined Imperial forces shortly after the battle started, but the Imperials also suffered heavy losses. Mak was able to jump out from AT-ST moments before the walker exploded in a fiery fireball, sending him sprawling to the ground. But the initial surprise was enough for the battle soon ended leaving Mak and his team victorious. Mak made a thorough search of the facility and retrieved the components for a prototype Shadow Suit before planting several explosive charges.
